STONEAGE OCARINA FOUND NEAR GREAT MISSENDEN
A big thank you to Peter Cox for bringing this stoneage instrument along to the Great Missenden Live Crafts Show in June 2003.  It was found near a building site and is a hollowed out geode with one blow hole and 3 finger holes, giving several fairly clear notes.  Its age ? ten thousand, twenty thousand, 30 thousand year old?  Certainly similar instruments have been dated to around twenty thousand years old and there are striking similarities between this one and a little Chinese stoneage instrument which is featured in my little history book.

OCARINAS TO COLOMBIA
One of Terry's customers, Martha Patricia Ramirez, music teacher at the Colegio San Carlos Primary School in Bogota, has been nominated for the Premio Compartir award as a result of her work teaching children to play the "poly-oc".  For the last three years, the Colegio has introduced columbia.jpg (33355 bytes) the ocarina into the second grade music syllabus, achieving spectacular results.  Many of the children have started to write down Colombian folk music using the  ocarina finger charts pioneered by Ocarina Workshop.  Terry sends his  thanks to Colegio San Carlos for their latest order.  We are so pleased to hear about the students' enthusiasm for playing.  Click photo to see full size.
