OCARINAS of the WORLD Vol. 1 "The great ocarina
soloists and groups of the Mose Tapiero, one of the first recording stars around 100 years ago, was the supreme ocarina virtuoso. His 78s are avidly collected today. He is a complete mystery. No-one knows where he came from or where he went. Swedish ocarina-makers Alexander Valda and Anders Ohman ('Duo Ocarina') performed and recorded their entrancing music until Alex's sad and premature demise a few years ago. Anders makes superb specialist wooden ocarinas. |
| Michael Copley and the
Chuckerbutty Ocarina Quartet, English touring professionals, blend
brilliance with humour on a wide range of ocarinas.
The Langley Family performed and recorded in England a decade ago. Bruno, the 8-year-old lead player, is now a popular actor on English TV. John, the father, ocarina-maker and bass-player in the group, is the happy compiler of this CD. Sarah Jackson made ocarinas in Germany for many years. Back in England now, she plays her own instruments to great effect in folk and Latin styles. Alan del Castillo, of Puerto Rico, put himself through medical school in the 1970s by selling ocarinas on the streets of London. He is now a respected nerve specialist, also touring the USA regularly with his Latin group. The Foursome performed in many Hollywood film musicals in the 1930's." "Thanks to all who gave their kind permission to include their work in this compilation. Thanks also to all who lent 78s, tapes, CDs and ocarinas. All performers retain their own copyright. Produced at Songstone Studios. (Tel. (0) 1298 26993" |
